Hi,
Before spending nearly £50 on Fleabay has anyone got a 12 x 2 mm Right Hand trapezoidal tap I can buy, beg, borrow, or steal?
Alternatively does anyone know a cheaper source. I want to make some Delrin anti-backlash nuts for my SX2 P mill project.
Russell.

Russell,
I have seen several times where people have taken a spare piece of this type of leadscrew and made it into a tap for Delrin. Certainly costs less and for a one or two off, it should last very well.

Yes, I've thought of that but I don't have a spare leadscrew and can only spare about 20 mm off the end of my X leadscrew.
Perhaps someone has a leadscrew they've removed to fit ballscrews? Anyone?

Russel why not try the heating of the lead screw method over at CNC zone?

I've tried it already and I'm not pleased with the result. Probably needs some practice but this guy (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1PC-New-Trapezoidal-Metric-HSS-Right-hand-Tap-Select-Size-From-TR8-To-TR28?item=150814010448) has just started advertising so I have a tap on the way.
Russell.
