View Full Version : Warco VM18
I have a Warco VM18 mill and was wondering how hard would it be to convert to a 3 or 4 axis CNC ...or is there anybody out there who could do the work to a good spec and in reasonable time?

How longs a piece of string ?? How easy it would be would depend mainly on your mechanical & electrical skills. Found a thread on cnczone which you may find worth a read.

Done about 3 of these now.
One thing to be aware of whoever does it needs access to a decent sized mill as on the WM18 the bed sags in the middle underneath.
This happens in the casting process and is no problem except that it will not clear the ballnut. Remedy is to take a skim from end to end underneath, to get the clearance. WM16's may just clear, some do, some don't. Short bed WM14's are usually OK.
Thanks for the replies and pm,s have now got something to consider ..sorry for the slow response .
