Whats the easiest, preferably free, way to convert a gerber file to a dxf. I want to mill out a pcb which I have a gerber file for.
Is it a straight convert process or does the dxf have to be redrawn/tidied up after the conversion process?

A while ago I had a quick look and didn't find a program to convert gerber to dxf. So instead I just used one of the programs that converts gerber to an image, then used a CAD program to vectorise it and added in circles for the holes 'manually'. Fortunately there weren't many holes...

CamBam will import gerber files - no idea what it does with them but the free demo gives you 40 goes before you have to buy so may be worth a try.

I do this all the time...export my PCB layout as a gerber (from eagle), open the associated gerber file in cambam, I thenadd in all the other MOP stuff required before generating my g-code.
Cambam will allow you to export the imported gerber file to dxf.
