I would be interested to know the cost of producing 12off and 50off of the below drawing.

Material spec of the originals was EN1PB.

The single 3.3mm hole passes through the entire piece.
The two 3.3mm holes are for M4 grub screws and only go to the centre.

Ideally, I'd like to the two grub screw holes, and the central hole through the 8mm section threaded to M4, but I'm guessing that might put the price up somewhat ?

Hi Adrian
there should be no price difference for a 4mm drilled & tapped hole (same number of ops) plus bigger tap less chance of breakage, you might want to put a tolerance on the 8mm dia if it has a mate.

Hi Mike.

I'm surprised the drilling/tapping is the same number of ops ? Don't you need to drill it before you can tap it ?

The 8mm section goes into a pocket in an aluminium runner bar, where it is clamped in place, so can be +0-0.2

Sorry Adrian my bad i thought you meant the price difference between a 3mm & a 4mm tapped hole.

No worries Mike.

I use Tek screws for installations at work, which are self drilling and self tapping, so I wondered if there was something similar available for machining :)

Do you have a drill press @ your disposal ? if you had someone machine the components you could set up a "V" block in the drill press and drill/tap a batch in one sitting so to speak, so that might keep the cost down.

I do and, to be honest, I also have a lathe, but the finish is never to my satisfaction, so getting someone else to make them might be more time efficient than doing them myself.
