Musical instrument maker interested in CNC machining

I am a concertina maker working in the uk, I am interested in getting a CNC router at some point.

A little background:
I used to work full time as a model maker where I used a laserscript 6090CNC router quite a bit, it ran on the "ucancam" package. I now have my own business as a concertina maker, mostly made by hand with some bought in parts.

I am primarily on here to discuss the merits of various CNC routers, I can certainly advise people who are interested in or want to learn about Laserscript cnc machines. I have only used laserscript routers and am interested to find out what other machines might be suitable to my needs of routing brass, woods and plastic. Rather than blindly going with what I know (the laserscript) I thought it would be good to talk with others about the pros and cons of other machines.
