Z axis reduction question
I am in the middle of my second build. I’m going for a long Z axis 500mm. 1500 x 1500 table. The z axis is getting pretty heavy. (might start a build log)
I bought 4:1 HTD reduction belt and pulleys to give the Nema 24 566oz in a bit of extra torque to assist the Z. The X, A and Y also have 4:1 HTD reduction units. However I now realise i’m slowing the whole feeds and speeds down with reduction on the Z. The first machine was 1:1 throught
Just looking for suggestions about other solutions before make up the nema bracket and fitting it today.
Thanks
ps got the 2DM556 drivers set on 3.8 Amps Half Current 1/10th Microstep for the 4Nm steppers perhaps could change the these settings
Re: Z axis reduction question
What are you using to move the Z axis? Ballscrew? What pitch? How much weight are we talking about?
