Quick question regarding spindle direction
Morning everyone,
I have a quick question, what is the normal direction for a mini cnc spindle? I have a modified Chinese 3040 cnc machine using the planet cnc control box with a uprated ebay spesh spindle (300w i think)
My question is which way should it rotate as i have looked at my engraving v bits (3mm) and they appear to have an edge to them which would hit the object to be engraved first if it spun clockwise, but currently my spindle spins anti-clockwise.
Is this normal?
Sorry if this is a bit of a dumb question
Cheers

Image of cutter would help
Re: Quick question regarding spindle direction
Usual direction is clockwise, looking from above. Most cutters are made for this direction of rotation; left-hand cutters are made but much less common. In fact, I've never handled one, although I do have some left-hand drills.
Sounds like spindle is wired backwards!

thats exactly what im thinking, is it possible the polarity is wrong? ie the red and black feed wires need swopping round?
Re: Quick question regarding spindle direction
Sounds like it, but could do with a bit more info and pictures before being definite about it. Do you have a test meter to check the polarity of the power supply or controller the spindle is connected to?
