Hello there,
I've been offered a second hand Isel cpm 2018 machine for 1000£ plus shipping, including the spindle a new open sourced control board and some end mill bits.
Is this price fair?
Kind regards

Impossible to say without seeing the machine and more information.
Is it working or does it just come with a Random control board and spindle which are off the machine.? If so these may not be what you require to get the machine working.
If it's fully working and it's not worn out then £1000 euros doesn't sound too expensive. But if it's not working then you need to know what will be required to make it work. In this case I'd be more a little less inclined to buy it.
it's supposed to be fully functional, no more work needed.
is the isel cpm 2018 a good machine? I'm new to this.
It's an Ok machine that comes with square type linear rails and ball screws which are good to have. It's compact and self-contained in a steel enclosure which is good if you need a clean work area.
It's designed for schools and making small parts from softer materials. It's not the most powerful machine in the world but it's one of the best in this class at this size machine. Isel are considered a good manufacturer.
YOu said softer materials, will it tackle Aluminium ?
I assume that Vimes (TP reference?) - you've read the equipment specification? In particular examine the work volume (200x175x90) and factor in any clamps/vice etc to understand if that volume is sufficient. It's not /that/ bad, but it is likely to be one of the constraints that you'll hit first.
I would say that's a fair deal if it'll do what you want workpiece size-wise. A good buddy of mine who got me interested in CNC has a larger Isel machine he uses for making guitars; it's well made and has given something like 20 years good service still maintaining accuracy.
