Dead Spindle - Help Please
Hi all
I have a heavily modded Denford Microrouter here (Mach3, Water cooled spindle). Unfortunately, it appears the spindle has died today.
In the middle of a job the power tripped out and I traced the fault to either the VFD or the spindle. By disconnecting the motor from the VFD i've narrowed it down to the spindle as the VFD appears to power up ok, but as soon as I reconnect the spindle the power trips again.
I have taken a couple of pictures of the print on the spindle in the hope that some knowledgeable person may be able to point me in the right direction to get a drop in replacement fairly urgently (I'm near Wakefield UK). I'd rather avoid having to reset(?) the VFD to match the spec of a new spindle as that is waaaay outside my comfort zone.
Obviously, it's the worst possible time of the year for it to fail, hence needing an urgent solution, but HeyHo, onwards and upwards.
Spec of the spindle as far as I can see is: 80mm x 200mm, 1.5Kw, 220v, 8A, 400Hz, water cooled.
Thank you.
Jem
Re: Dead Spindle - Help Please
Looks like a pretty generic 1.5KW water cooled 80mm diameter spindle.
400Hz means it'll be ~24'000 RPM.
Getting one quickly is likely to be your biggest problem.
I'd suggest giving Dean (JazzCNC) a call, as he's not too far away, and might have something kicking around - https://www.jazzcnc.co.uk/contact
