Reverse stepper motor direction on driver/motor winding
Hi, got a motor that runs on the Z axis the wrong way. I cannot find a setting in pokeys57cnc to reverse it. Well I think I did but it does not work.
Howewer I found in the driver instructions for the CW8060 (cnc4you.co.uk) that the motor interface can be rewired to reverse the direction.
The documentation reads:
"A+ and A- is connected to a phase winding of motor.
B+ and B- is connected to another phase winding of motor.
If you need to reversed' one of the phase windings can be reversed" (or it can be reversed in software).
I have attached a picture of the wiring, but do not understand exactly what the above statement means regarding the "one of the winding can be reversed". Does it mean simply swap A+ with A- ? Or would i have to swap A+ -> A- and B+ -> B-???
Or have just got that completely wrong???
Any help appreciated.
thanks

Re: Reverse stepper motor direction on driver/motor winding
Only swap one pair to change motor direction.
Swapping both pairs won't change direction.

Re: Reverse stepper motor direction on driver/motor winding
This is not the question you asked but for extra security (just as a general step) you can check the resistance across each winding pair before connecting to the driver. Should get a few Ohms across a pair. If you wire up the driver with a short across A+A- or B+B- it will damage the driver so this can be a good check.
If you don't have a multimeter you can take the wires from the motor and short what you think is A+A- or B+B- (do not include the driver when you do this!). If you have found the correct pair the motor will suddenly be difficult to turn by hand. This confirms which wires are the pair across each coil.
