confused about machine timing - please help

hello you beautiful people, cnc noob here

i am the proud owner of a genmitsu 6050 - had a little fiddle with it and now im trying to do my first 3d carve

im using carveco maker, have genmitsu's own 1.25 router, a selection of branded bits

basically im running simulation and im getting 40+ hour carve times in a 200x200mm bit of pine

when i fiddle with the parameters - it either takes longer or the 3d model looks like someones eaten the wood into shape

im at that point where my brain hurts because i can't figure it out.

is there anyone here who can help me please =)
