This is something ive been looking into to run with the bobcad v23, theres a cheap version you can build yourself, I might try this first to see what interest I can generate.Is this something that may be of interest to you?

What sort of price are these people charging if you dont mind me asking? They are expensive though! What is it you need from the scan? is it for measuring? or to obtain a solid model etc ?
