Hello all from Yeovil

I am pleased to introduce myself, Steve from Yeovil, Somerset.

Years ago I built a filament winding machine to make carbon fibre components, it started out being a simple chain driven device but I soon found it to be too limiting and converted it to CNC in about 1990.

After several mechanical upgrades and a bit of simple electronic cheating it has 4 axis but it is still driven by an old AppleII, circa 1981, which is now the weakest link.

During my search for a suitable modern control system I stumbled across this interesting forum.

I am also in the process of rebuilding an Orac lathe.

Hi Steve, and welcome to the site. Plenty of useful info here. We have several members who have rebuilt Orac lathes as well...
