West Wales Newbie..

Hi Guys

Ive been scoping out this site for a couple of weeks and have come to the conclusion that it is the most knowledgeable UK forum for CNC geeks and so I beg acceptance.

I'm currently working in IT but got there via an apprenticeship as an airframe fitter in Belfast, art college, factory maintenance and BT.

Heading for retirement, I began building up a metal workshop with a small lathe, various welders MIG, TIG etc. and a home made casting furnace, not used in earnest yet.

I started looking at CNC last year after buying a plasma cutter and finding that my hands weren't steady enough to get the quality of cuts required.

After trawling through the internet I started buying the parts required and of course I have made the same mistakes as others, buying bits before fully understanding the requirement.

So I look forward reading more of your excellent posts, asking a few questions and hopefully start building.
