newbie to the forum looking for info
Hello chaps. Im looking for some info on something i have obtained.
I bid on a liquidation sale recently and amongst the stuff i won was a Renishaw QC10 ballbar.
I have no idea what its for, but someone said it might be used for calibrating cnc equipment. it obviously plugs into a pc as it has an install cd. Theres loads of other gizmos that go with it, i just wondered if any one can tell me what it does and is there a market for this stuff
Regards
CC

Off topic, but Out of personal interest, sat here pondering, how does one find a liquidation sale in which one can bid?
Thanks

Lucky enough to have a friend who did some work for a liquidation company. All the equipent was bundled onto pallets and you just did secret bids on each one. I bid on three but got only one. My one was labeled Computer equipment and contained mostly IT hardware. Amongst it was this QC10 thing.
Not sure if this is comon practice or I just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
The liquidation company buys everything (including the kitchen sink (Im sure I saw it on a pallet ) ). then they advertise the sale and you bid for what you want. Because its a secret auction you dont know what youve won until the end.
Anyway, I found some info on the Qc10 ballbar, and it is some sort of calibration tool for big CNC machines. Still dont know what to do with it though.

If it's not useful to you I'd just eBay it - Renishaw parts seem to fetch high prices on eBay and it's currently free listing.

I thought because it was such specialist piece of kit I would check with the specialists first. Thanks for all the feedback. Will probably end up Ebaying this as laptops and PCs are more my field not machinery.
