No government ones but there are Hackspaces, see The UK Hackspace Foundation
What type of machining are you seeking to do ?

Hi Eddy , a decent bandsaw for a start and if possible a cross-cut, oh and thicknesser and router .. most woodworking tools :)Quote:

A bandsaw is a must and while it's possible to hand plane, a thicknesser is essential too, other than that I managed for years with just hand tools for the rest.
