Round Corner Forming Tool
I'm after a set of corner forming tools - let's say a 5-piece of varying small radii that'll fit in a 10mm tool-post. Something akin to this:

I'm aware that most of you would probably grind your own, but I'm not in a position to do that at the moment - hence looking to acquire a set.
I've searched online a bit, but nothing standing out. Any suggestions/recommended suppliers?
Cheers.

Re: Round Corner Forming Tool
How about a raduis turning tool? There are a few about, or you could make one yourself. Something like this... http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/acatalog/info-RT1.html
Re: Round Corner Forming Tool
Yeah, I thought about one of those - definitely something to consider for the future - for set up speed and consistency for this one off I was hoping to keep it simple with a former like in the OP.
Cheers Neil.

Re: Round Corner Forming Tool
Hi Wal
Can't say that i have seen anything like that myself. Radius turning attachment is fine if you want to machine a large radius and probably the best way to go. I modified my boring head to fit in my toolpost. large radius tools really need a fairly substantial machine(ridgidity).
If you can be bothered making toolholders you could have a look over @ Felder woodworking, I have one of there spindle tools that takes various sized carbide radius bits and these should be available as a separate item.
When making the holder make sure the insert is well supported up to the cutting edge, might have to make a holder for each different size bit.
Hope that helps
Mike
Re: Round Corner Forming Tool
Hi Mike,
Hmm - that's partly the issue - the radii that I need to machine will be pretty small (max 5mm).
There's always this method:

Or just doing the bugger manually by numbers..!
Cheers.

Re: Round Corner Forming Tool
That's one of the methods i was going to suggest, i have a similar cutter that i bought for the locking bars on some Spilka windows that i made, but thought the holder might have been a ball ache to make.

Re: Round Corner Forming Tool
For one off's then I'd use the radius milling cutter and go nice n easy. Form tools are ok if you have loads of parts to make, Large forms also knock shit out of little lathes.! Radius turning setup is better for large radius as it's easier on machine.
