Dressing Grinding Wheels

hi all.
on one of my bench grinders i have a course and fine wheel.
and they need sorting out.
there is plenty on them but they aint flat.
what would be the best wheel dresser to get.

What you need is a diamond wheel dresser/sharpening stone, there is quite a few variations, what I would get and recently ordered for mine is just a plain Jane dimond dressing stone, they are cheap and do exactly what you want, here's a link:

Just dress the wheel with it in the same fashion you would grind a part, really easy :thumsup:

hmmm so either a wheel dresser or stone dresser...

i guess with the stone type it covers the width of the wheel.
but the wheel type doesnt..

Right, to be honest I'd just go with a stone and see what you think, it's actually the first one I've ever bought and it's done a really nice job on my wheels, really quick too.

It's one of them "you got a stone, it worked sweet, you didn't give the other type a second thought" kind of things, but I do know some old school who have the wheel type. They look more involved to me...

Carberundom Stones will do a decent enough job but you will find it hard to get rid of the bounce (runout) of the wheel, the star (rotary) type dresser will give you better control of this with a little practice but make sure you readjust the rest afterwards to minimise the gap between the wheel. You dont want a tool being dragged down into the wheel!
