Well you've been busy. Are doing all the machining yourself?
Dont think those motors will be big enough tho... What power are they?
Hi Ross, yeh all the machining wiring and alls you can see in my build is all done by yours truly, the motors for the X & Y are 6Nm 3000rpm (peak at 12Nm i think) , 2 for the X and 1 for the Y and a smaller 3.3Nm for the Z they are all 2:1 belt reduced to increase torque!
Y & Z servos all ready for the reduced backlash timing belts and pulleys alls going to plan so far! :yahoo: Just got to cut the keyways on the X ball screw and make the nut housings then i can get wiring it all up.
Very nice. I take it you already have a mill in your other workshop then.?
well, i didnt until i started making my machine so i went and bought one, i got it a fairly good price, it does the job nicely. 626 Turret Mill i got it for £1100 brand new with power feed and some R8 collets. Next thing will be to cnc that :D
And I thougth I had the cnc bug bad.......Thats some serious outlay including all the other bits:smile:. Have you got a mission for this machine when its ready then?Quote:
Hehe yes i have, ive already got work waiting for me, from a local truck firm that want me to do a run of circuit boards and a motor sport company want me to do some test products for them. for a first machine i think it will be good. ive already got MK2 planned out in solidworks :D
For a first machine it looks amazing. Mk2 then Mk3, 4, 5............
Just out of interest how well do the angle brackets work on the y axis beams? they look like the whole thing will rack.
Thanks Ross. The brackets work really well, its surprisingly stiff without them, i put them for extra support, if you hold one side and move the opposite side with considerable force it flexes about 2mm thats until you attach the to ball screws then nothing moves. im also going to add extra side supports to reduce side ways deflection.
Wheres the best place to get energy chain from? E-bay or is there anywhere cheap in the UK?
