Charlie I've got the T-shirt been there done that in exactly the same circumstances, actually was with my best mate so possible worse if you didn't know the Twat and let me tell you buddy it's the best thing that happened to me.!
You'll soon learn Money and assets mean very little in grand scheme. The kids will love you no matter what and even if young they are not stupid they know who's gulity so don't worry about them.

Well at least I didn't know the bloke but she did, she worked with him for six years! but the affair "only" started last August. It's not so much the affair but her attitude since I found out. She is trying to prevent me seeing the kids at every opportunity she can even though I was their sole carer for the first 2 months. Being a total be itch like I was the one who did wrong:grey: won't talk to me, Text only or "speak to your solicitor" She's gonna be in for a shock though because I offered her £40000 for a clean break and her solicitor said she'd get a lot more (without knowing any financial details) so she refused but it seems she may be entitled to less than that now and because she went straight to a solicitor she will end up with even less. Here's hoping.

I don't really agree with that Dean....If I was that bad or did enough for her to want to leave me then she should of done just that, not line up the next sucker while stringing me along and using me to get everything she wanted! It is just selfish and disrespectful, I could tell you some stuff about my soon to be ex that would make even your blood boil.

Well.....after a very long hiatus I'm finally back on it 😁 last night I poured the resin after a week of making sure my box section was water tight........success 😁 I have noticed a couple of very tiny air bubbles but other than that it looks pretty good.

Yeah don't worry, i'm going to leave it until Saturday/Sunday although I have had a horrible thought...I should of leveled the ballscrew mounts rather than the rails prior to pouring!! Only time will tell how close they were so its a week of waiting.
Where has Dean gone? He used to help out loads on here but I haven't seen anything of him.

Looking good. Reminds me of when I did mine last year - glad it’s all behind me now!
On the ballscrew mounts if they are onto the bare metal ( the unleveled section) then you will have to shim them in later using something off the gantry or carraiges to get each end at them same height. Should be OK as you’ve done the hard bit which is getting the rail surface right.

Well the pour went well and I've now painted the frame but I need an engineers straight edge to setup and check how straight my rails are. Anyone know if these can be hired? Hopefully the build will start to pick up the pace now as I've ordered lots of stuff 😁.Attachment 25581

Made some progress on the control box but ive just checked the voltage of my toroidal transformer and its 75v is there anything i can use to drop the voltage to 68v or do i need to find a 2 x 23v toroidal transformer?

What are the windings on the one you have. generally 2 x 24v is ideal but I have used 2 x 25v many times. what is the max is the dc on your drives.

The one i have is 2 x 25v so i was expecting more like 70v, and the drives are the 2DM860H so can handle the voltage ok

You might find the transformer has a primary rated at 220 or 230VAC and your stuffing 240 up it, with the proportionally higher secondary voltage. Under load you're going to see a reduction in terminal voltage anyway - so long as the electronics can take the peak voltage okay then I wouldn't lose any sleep on the 75V output. I have a 600W 50V toroidal that also gives me an unloaded 75VDC on the caps, and I chose the same drivers for that reason.

Probably your mains voltage is on the high side and you are measuring the PS off load
I have used those drives I think they will take about 110vdc but you can also put AC into them straight from the toroidal

You are right Clive, that was tested with no load. The drives do take upto 110v DC and upto 80AC. I didnt think about connecting the toroidal direct to the drives! Im assuming they have their own rectifiers and caps to smooth the currrent then? But i also assume the same 75v would be achieved?
I'm thinking i might test it again in the evening when demand for electricity is higher...i measured it at about 4pm on easter sunday when everyone else was probably out having a bbq!

Well I've been busy doing the electronics and control cabinet and familiarizing myself with the AXBB motion controller, its my first one so can't compare with any others but i must say I'm impressed with it. I have completed almost all of the electronics but before I fit the motors to the machine I want to make sure the limits are fitted just in case! Is 5mm from a hard limit a good distance or do i need more? 5mm distance from the hard stop will function fine as the motors stop very quickly. If it was a home switch you might want a bit more as the machine over travels a bit.
Only thing to think about is if you can get your finger trapped.

So I had some issues with my AXBB charge pump output but that has now been resolved thanks to some helpful people on here [emoji16].
This means that I have finally been able to make some movement on my machine however I'm not entirely happy with it.
What kind of rapid speeds would you expect on nema 23 and 70v driver/psu?
I may have to go for twin motors on the X axis or a higher power nema 34 as that seems to bind if I go above 12000 units per minute(I am running at 10000 to be safe) whereas y axis goes upto 17000 units before binding(running at 14000). The z axis is only around 8000 but I assume that's because of the ballscrew pitch.
Anyway, it's looking promising but there may be room for improvement.
The y axis is smooth one way but seems to have a judder when rapid in the opposite direction...any ideas?
The X axis sounds gratey in both directions ! I'm thinking it may be sounding worse because it runs on the steel box section and that may be amplifying the sound?

Hi Charlie, don't know anything about your setup so might be way off here.
If you are using a Single nema23 with 70v to drive 2 x 10mm pitch screws then you're doing well to get 10M/min. Or if you're using single Nema34 with only 70V you still won't get much more than 10Mtr/min. You'll need more Volts for Nema34 to get higher rpm.
Now 2 x 23 will get you little more speed but my question would be WHY.? You can't cut many materials higher than 10mtr/min, woods etc will be much lower feeds and the machine isn't massive so 10mtr/min rapids will still get you end to end quick enough.

Hmm...well I suppose the need for speed is more down to seeing the rapids from the machines at work! Yes I know they cost more like 1 mill each but y'know [emoji16]
I suppose the real answer is I'd of liked the X and Z to run at the same speed....not a deal breaker and maybe in the future ill upgrade the X axis but I'm happy with it for now. I tweaked the speeds and acceleration values today and it's a pretty speedy little thing [emoji16] soon be making a cut.

Doesn't really matter because if both axis are moving together the feed will be calculated so they both arrive at the same time so you are unlikely to hit the max velocity anyway.

Long time no post so I'd like to thank you all for your help during this build and give a little update. I decided to upgrade the x axis to use a slave drive, firstly just to get a little more speed from it but secondly because the length of the single belt worried me a little! I managed to blow the charge pump output on my AXBB twice but I have since repaired it and had no issues since. I have done a few test cuts and am quite happy with it so far although I have noticed that the x axis motors resonate quite badly on low revs. The drives are set identically to the Y and Z with the only difference being it has both X and A slaved. Any ideas? Also I'd like to wire up the fault output on the drives and am a little unsure of how to do it [emoji848]

Congratulations on completing your machine - having just read through your complete build log, I was at many points not expecting it to end with this triumphant post!
I hope you would consider entering your machine details here. Hopefully someone more experienced will be along to answer your questions. As soneone plotting their own build, always keen to hear reflections and lessons from those who have made it through.
