I build one of those about a year now,it is cheap and easy to build. I use it with my cnc, band saw, router table and some times I remove the dust from the workshop floor. Works grate.

Tbh, I don;t have time to make anything. I have seen add on cyclone units though. Would that be an idea to put inbetween my henry and the CNC?

I have a small workshop and build guitars as a hobby and also do much woodworking, I empty the bucket once every three months.
You've probably spent more time thinking about a cyclone than it takes to build one lol.

Just hope the Henry is powerful enough to suck up all the MDF dust, otherwise will have to replace that with somerthing a bit more powerful.
You need best 2 stage vacuum cleaner with 40-60mm hose. Llavor 32 is the cleaner i use. I have 2 of them in fact. Italian motor inside, can work 24h non stop http://en.lavorwash.com/products/view/gnx-32
Could do with the Henry, they had 2 stage model i think.
Now i am selling dust shoes so have that in mind as a disclaimer, but you need a well made dust shoe where you will not loose the pressure from the long brushes. if the shoe is right, any vacuum cleaner will do well normal jobs. Still for surfacing you need the shoe to be well designed. If you have a 3d printer just follow my link from signature and Thingverse you will find the design for free. or drop me a line if you need a special size combination. I will upload it there.

The separators work pretty well. I have one on top of 200l barrel. problem is they are not 100%, more like 94 %. Which means on every 100kg , 6kg of fine dust really goes into the vacuum cleaner. Which is not a great deal if you do small stuff.
I'm certainly not generating "commercial" volumes of dust for my hobby work, but the fine dust does tend to clog the vacuum cleaner filter. Do these cheap separators work well with the fine dust as well as chips?
At the end of the day, no matter how much money you are going to spent in a system like that ,you are going to get it back from bag saving, time and nerve braking everytime you have to change a vacuum bag at the middle of a job!
They work great. Last year when I started using the separator/barrel combo, I hammered my CNC cutting MDF. But I've not had to empty my vac once since using the setup. Next to no dust enters the vac. At most, you'll probably get a very fine film of dust in the vac over a long period of time.Quote:

I really like how you did that! I might have to hack a quick cyclone out of 30l bucket and lid with pipe fittings because I have it all to hand but I definitely want to make something like your setup for a more long term solution.
