Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
I'm aware of a couple X2 conversions on here, as I did consider converting one.
Have you checked out cnczone?
I know most are US based, but there are a good few over there. The big thread of interest is Hoss's, as he pretty much took his as far as he could before upgrading to a bigger mill.
As for making the bits, an X2 is a mill ;-)
Doing bits manually makes you appreciate the benefits (and drawbacks!) of cnc.

Hi M_C
I know, I've made one piece and it took me ages, all the bit are delrin though, you never know I might find someone on here :)

Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Post up a RFQ with some details, and I'm sure you'll find someone to make the bits for you.
Out of curiousity, what plans did you buy?
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Allan
Whereabouts are you in Oxfordshire?
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Is your plan to keep the stock screws and nuts etc or replace everything?
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Send me the plans or drawings and I'll have a look what's involved. If not too much work I'll fire them off for you.
PM you my email.
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Allan,
Are all these pillars that support the steppers in Delrin ?
If so you are wasting your time. Who's X2 is it that you are converting? Chester, Warco, Machine Mart ? reason I ask is that i have an ARC SX2 here that;s got steppers on and retains the standard leadscrews and is far better engineered than the ones in the plans.
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Allan I'd listen to what John suggests he's the master when it comes to these machines.!
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
I'll get some pics tomorrow and take some measurements as the ARC machine is based on the X1 base long bed which has actually got larger travels than the X2
Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
It does say in the instructions that you can use aluminium for everything but leave the backlash nut in derlin?

Re: Sieg X2 CNC Conversion
Have you seen my thread here ? Most of the work was done either by hand or using a lathe.
