Im not so enthusiastic, 2k & some time investment would build yourself a much bigger stronger machine
*single ballscrew drive for X
*unsupported rails for Z (cant see the Y ones, Id guess the same)
*no mention of what drivers etc being used?
It's too small for me but it just looked a step up from the usual lookalikes
It's discussed further here http://www.mycncuk.com/forums/market...400x600mm.html

It looks ok to me, for the money.
As EddyCurrent says, it looks a lot better than most of the Ali profile crates on offer in that price bracket.
But I also think "If" you have the time(and that's a big if!), you could make a much better one on the same budget.
The unsupported rails seem it's worst feature to me.
Edit: On further inspection the Y Rails look supported. Can't see X rails
It is from Boro however, so it must be tough!:boxing:
the price is very bad , i wouldnt pay for either but with the one below its 800 quid change and a watercooled spindle
CNC 6040 ROUTER ENGRAVER DRILLING / MILLING MACHINE b8 | eBay
£800 + £400 postage.
I think the price is fair to be honest. I think you would be hard pushed to make them much below that price and take a wage.
I wouldn't buy either of 'em as well, but it's perhaps not as straight forward as it seems
The Chinese 6040: Warranty & support? Good luck on that one. Mach 3? Need to buy it . Yes you can use EMC2 for free, but it's not
particularly suitable for most people just getting into CNC.
Apparently a reasonable dexterous person can operate the axes better than the control box supplied.
Most people seem to ditch it and buy or build another for 2-300 quid.
So that + Mach3 licence narrows the gap by about £400
Eagle includes Mach3, 12 months Warranty (6 on spindle) & Support
So all in all for a novice CNC user I would of thought the Warranty & support (which is apparently good) of the Eagle Makes it a lot closer
than it would first seem.
the eagle will certainly have better drives (probably moons' SR24 drives) vs. some nasty yoocnc all in one stepper driver board in the Ebay Chinese one (not to mentioned a couple of hundred quid's worth of VFD/spindle....vs the £50 air cooled spindle that comes with the Ebay chinese machine)
In my opinion, the Eagle should be a touch cheaper (on a 'totalling up what it's got over the Ebay Chinese machine' basis) ...but that's probably because the seller has had to build in some fat to give Ebay their slice of the selling action - if I was wanting this particular style of 6040 machine, I'd be inclined to go direct to the seller of the Eagle & see if you can strike a lower priced deal (on account there'd be no Ebay fees), see if you can collect with cash (no paypal fees etc)
Someone has just bought that 1K High-Z machine on ebay, must have made an offer as it's been ended.
There are some cheap 3040 machines on the bay at the moment....New CNC 3040T Router Engraver/Engraving Drilling And Milling Machine / UK | eBay £545 seems much cheaper than I've seen them for before?!
Half toyed with the idea of getting one (plus some better drivers or using my TB6560 board I have gathering dust) to machine some bits for my proper build (and get used to using a CNC) and then flogging it on fleabay after I'd used it.......but then saw the light...
