Just found this:- Attachment 10729
It has just about everything that should be avoided when building a router.
It would keep Dean (JAZZCNC) busy for a month:beer: ...Clive

Hey! Where did you get the pic of my machine!?!..........Nah, just kidding, looks too solid to be my machine! :pirate:
To be fair though, without knowing what the builder intended it to cut, its hard to say if this is a success or steaming pile!
It's for tattoos :highly_amused:
Haha! now I want to see a vid of it in action! ....on second thought, maybe I don't!
Well that may be pushing it then!
I must say though, I like the ingenuity of making it all from a single length of C shaped ali (or is that a length of ali box cut down the middle?). Appeals to my inner cheapskate. :oD
Hey that's Still better machine than some Dicey Merchants sell. . .Lol
Actually these types of build are good for learning CNC and I don't actually have problem with them when done on that basis and think it's good idea if they don't cost more than fish & chips twice.!! . . . . It's when folks expect them to cut stuff harder than foam it all goes tits up.
A poorly designed CNC Router on the internet, whatever next?
Thanks for the link Jonathan.
After looking at the guys site I got to say I'm impressed. He has built the whole thing on a shoestring budget, created his own circuit boards (stepper drivers, BOBs, Relay etc) and has listed it all for download, good man! :applause:
Next is this one- 21 000 GBP on fleabay :abnormal:

Ahh yes, I almost posted that myself a few weeks ago. One of Marchant Dice's later models...
They've used 'Doughty drive' gearboxes, so even if the frame wasn't comparable to elongated pasta, it still would only be (barely) acceptable for wood.
I've watched a good few MD auctions on fleabay and as far as I can tell they must only sell one once in a blue moon as none of the ones I've watched sold. Before anyone wonders, no, I wasn't thinking of buying one. I just wanted to know if there were people out there that would pay that much.
Did anyone see the recent auction on fleabay for a second hand 8x4 MD it went for 11k !!!!!!!! they are only 13k new. there are some crazy people out there!!!!!
I totally agree with cncjim. This guy worked from scratch, on a budget. We should not criticise and carp. It demeans the forum. I hope he had a lot of fun making it, and it is a bonus if he can get some nice work from his efforts. The only suggestion I would make is to face some bolts the other way, just to make it neater.
Just bear in mind that we don't all cut 6" chrome moly steel at warp speed to the fraction of an angstrom.
On the other hand : the cynical peddlers of crap machines deserve all the shit in the universe thrown at them.
