Hi, I use a paint mask vinyl, available from most sign writing vinyl suppliers. I Just rout through the vinyl, paint the engraved letters and peel vinyl off, leaves a nice clean finish.

Sounds like the usual translation of a manual. See if your friend can convert it to a CAT scanner, will make more money than a CNC machine.

That will be the problem, the standard MDF will always fur as the core of the material is not dense enough for routing to a good finish, you will need something like medite MR or MRND teh MR...
