    I was reading an article recently about using the shank of old Morse taper drills to adapt for other purposes by sawing off the shank. Typically, the shank was left soft and only the cutting part was hardened. Not sure that the shank needs to be hard.

    My 7mm reamer arrived yesterday. More to follow hopefully . . .

    If I get the chance today I'll mic it up.

    I now have 2mm -> 10mm.
    They have a gritty feel, may need a wash.
