My prezzie to myself is 200 years old, cost me £385 + £8 P&P and while fully functional is completely useless. I bought the wife some fags

That's lovely, and something gun related which no spouse could complain about as an ornament ;-)
You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D

Ah, a long term project, that'll keep you busy for a while, I'd say 18 to 25 years at a guess ;-)

I had fun throwing cuddly toys up the stairs last week while Chloe was sliding them back down the bannister rail. I am 65 and she is nearly 2 so we just carried on until a responsible adult arrived. When she is bigger I will teach her how to blow things up.
I bought a treasure chest and started throwing all my loose change in it for her, it is quite heavy now. Maybe we will blow that up. I am only here to serve

Grandchildren are better than children. You love them, have fun with them. Teach them the dark arts of dismantling to show them how things work etc... Then when they are tired, hungry or need a nappy change - you just hand them back to mummy or daddy. When you have paid your dues of parenting your own children, they owe it to you.

Happy New Year to all of you !

    Rob
