It is not normal that it trips the RCD. If it does then something is wrong but at the same time tripping the RCD means the VFD may still be OK and not burned. Maybe it is easily repaired perhaps just a simple short circuit inside. Anyway, demand a refund. It is obvious that something is wrong.
Edit: just saw your last post. White smoke, bad smell means it is definitely burned. Demand a refund but expect long discussion with the seller, he will blame you. Don't waste time, time is to the advantage of the seller only.Last edited by A_Camera; 02-01-2017 at 08:33 PM.
