Right chaps and lasses,
I currently have a 200w spindle motor which I have been told by numerous people it is just weak as wee. So im looking to purchase a better one today, I am aware that I have to be carefull of the weight as my z axis isnt the strongest, that said I still want to try and get the best I can afford (not much as usual)
I have been looking brushless 600w spindle motor:

Is this too powerful? or do you lot think this is a good upgrade for my machine? I would like to mill soft ally mild steel at some point if poss (although I doubt it will do it)
Main duty for the machine will be mild engraving into fibreglass and soft ally.
Let me know your thoughts :-)

I'd personally say stick with what you've got until you either kill it, or reach it's limitations.
It's certainly not a powerful spindle, but it should be good enough to use while you get to grips with the rest of the machine.Avoiding the rubbish customer service from AluminiumWarehouse since July '13.

I don't know the details of your machine but something like this or a water cooled one would be far better; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-5KW-AIR-...8AAOSwFGNWRDPu

Eddy I don't think it would fit on their machine http://go.redirectingat.com/?id=2051...ge%3D3&xtz=-60
That't the trouble when people don't keep their posts in one place for the same problems..Clive

'machine' ? I almost choked on my milk stout, I suppose it's okay for PCB's and small light stuff.
In that case, I'm thinking m_c had the best answer.Last edited by EddyCurrent; 30-06-2017 at 08:36 PM.
