Hello
I was wondering if it was possible to use the standard control board from the Unimat PC for connecting to Linux of mach for spindle control?
The board has push buttons or direction and a pot for speed control. I seem's possible to remove these and connect the bob directly to it.
Is it that easy or will there be issues with earthing?
Thanks in Advance

You could always use small interface relays for the pushbuttons. Energise the coils from the bob then wire the 'volt free' contacts across where each button connects.
Not sure how the pot is wired as I don't have a diagram for that board.Spelling mistakes are not intentional, I only seem to see them some time after I've posted

Thanks, I thought the pot would be the hard part. Any info on these lathes is non existent, let alone a schematic.
I will see if i can trace the circuit. As far as I can tell the motor is under powered and the speed control dosnt offer full torque at low rpm so might not be worth bothering with but thought Id give it a try before getting a bigger motor and dedicated drive.
