Hello all,
I am Mike from Yorkshire and been trying to design my cnc router with the help of all the great posts from this forum and hoping
to start my own Build log. I was just wondering if anyone has tried levelling with grub screws as in the picture bellow, I know this will be more work but will always be adjustable and reused on different machines. Any thoughts?

Hi Mike,
Grub screws for leveling plates on uneven surfaces has been around a while so yes it would allow you to level the rails. I used the method on my lathe when setting up the DROs.
As drawn though the grub screws are quite far away from the rail. They would be better tucked in as close to the rails as possible. Also the plate they sit on needs to be quite thick as you are relying on it to give stiffness between the rail out to the grub screws.
For long thin parts such as rails I think the usual epoxy leveling method would be preferable.
