Welcome to the forum!
I'm afraid that questions in the New Member section can be totally overlooked, so it may well be worthwhile reposting your query/request in another bucket, possibly the software bucket. . . . . . .

The obvious suggestion - which might not be the correct one, is Fusion360. Not sure about the ProDesktop and any similarities, but F360 is pretty easy to pickup the basics (which is about where I am).

The easy way is to make your base clip art in Inkscape Or Adobe Illustrator as vectors then use fusion to extrude from your vectors.
I would recommend this

I found this dvd useful to get my head round the interface, it's not a how to model tutorial it just breaks down the tools and how to use them so if you have no prior experience you would want additional help.
Youtube and autodesk has some excellent resources for getting startedhttp://www.mycncuk.com/threads/10880...60cm-work-area My first CNC build WIP 120cm*80cm
If you didn't buy it from China the company you bought it from did ;)

Thanks for all your advice.... School term has started so now I need to find time to sneak out to the design studio (aka garage) in between marking and planning. There are so many programs out there. I've had students manage to mage g codes from sketchup and blender - and I honestly don't know how they did it! I'll have a play with fusion and illustrator and let you know how I get on. Cheers!
