Hi Bert,
Totally understand your thinking for the sake of an extra thirty Euros... I've found 7075 to be quite a bit more expensive than the 6082 here in the UK, but hey - maybe I'm shopping in the wrong places!
In practical terms, it would be interesting to see how much difference to the strength using 7075 would make...
All the best!
Wal.

Just ring any aluminium supplier in the Netherlands they will be able to supply tooling plate, it might not be called ecocast but tooling plate is available everywhere I got it in Lithuania in 10 minutes lol and UK 3 of the 4 suppliers in Leicester could get it next day that I rang.
None of the suppliers in Leicester had heard the brand name ecocast but they did know tooling plate, ground flat both sides.Last edited by Desertboy; 03-01-2018 at 09:45 AM.

This is an interesting discussion - if a little old. When I looked up the properties, 7075 seemed to be much stronger (tensile strength), but very little stiffer (elastic modulus still around 70GPa) so I didn't see much point in using it - or have I been fed duff data????

Yeah, that sounds right... I bought a few sheets of 7075T6 a while back to make a few bottle openers from - bottle-tops would chew up anything made from 6082. The 7075 still looks perfectly fine years later. Not done a side by side bend test, but there's probably not much between them.

Thanks for the link..... though I notice there doesn't seem to be any hardness data, which maybe makes all the difference on your beer enabling products :-) I had a bracket out of a Bentley that was made of some such alloy and man was it stiff - quite unlike any ali I've ever touched before.
