I've actually made a laser CNC with printer stepper motors, she didn't last long.
did however enable me to cut some pieces for an upgrade that i'm almost happy with.

As to the WHY!
Well I'm my own biggest pain in the arse, often aking things far more complicated than it has to be due to using junk laying about.
With a healthy splatter of cheapness sprinkled lovingly over the top.

I find a healthy amount of abuse for being sooo stupid does one of two things.
Correcting my thought patterns (temporarily) or pushing me to prove someone wrong (50/50 success rate).


So to summarize your appreciated post reply,
don't be a nob, just buy extrusion. (OK I can get behind that).

Shall I get SGR rather than SBR then mounting should be pie as a single line of centralised screw holes (me starting to think so).

I've no experience with the SGR gear. I used TBR supported rails on my mini-mill - they've served me well and continue to do so, but if I was building it again I'd use the HIWIN profile rails that I fitted to my larger scale router. A bit more expensive, but my advice would be you may as well get it right the first time..!

Sounds like you've already had adventures in CNC and I doubt that you're as 'stupid' as you make out. Stop messing, dive in!
