Lots of motor drives have an analogue output.
Can anyone tell me what it does, and what it could be useful for please?
Many thanks

Analog output, sounds vague.
Could be a number of things.
Likelyhood is that it is a tachometer or encoder, both of which provide some form of voltage to indicate either speed or position.
How many wires? What does it connect to? If its the rear of the motor, normally this will be for feedback (tacho / encoder).

(Control terminal number 5 output reference 0-10v)
If it were possible to connect this as a current reference I could use for a load meter that would be great however I can’t find any info in the manual that explains how it would work?Last edited by Toolman321; 23-05-2018 at 06:20 PM.

It actually says
Control terminal number 5 -- +10V Reference -- Analogue output, +10v Reference for speed and current set points
It's the 10v you connect to one end of a pot, with the other end to 0v and then use the pot variable output to the analogue input for a speed control knob.
There may be other stuff you can use it for but you have to read the whole manual and see what the relevant Parameter settings configure. You think that's too expensive? You're not a Model Engineer are you? :D
