    This forum is getting silly.

    MN: I wasn't replying to you - instead I was building on the body of evidence that the OP was reporting. Yes, you provided some advice to help localise the possible problem, the OP tested, and reported back, and I provided a conclusion. What's the issue? As far as the "echo" - nothing there was concluded by any statement from yourself.

    Forget it.

    Problem solved
    There was no safety earth on the chassis so after adding that and an EMI filter all is well.
    So now I can get on with learning how to use it at last
