I use Estlcam, I would just set my depth of cut to .1 mm in the tools list and depth of engraving at .3 mm

thats makes perfect sense, I just didnt know how to set that, for example when I was importing a dxf into planet cnc software, you could state a cutting deptch and then the depth each pass will make, so a cutting depth of 4mm but with 1mm passes if that makes sense.
Think I need to try and work out how to set tool information up
