I'm looking at possibly getting one of these proves
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-3axis...4c42%7Ciid%3A1
What would be the best type to get, normally open or normally closed. I will get it in 24v to suit my controller. I am currently running mach 3 bit will be switching to uccnc soon.
Thanks all

I always prefer NC as it helps avoid problems from disconnection, be that operator error, or some kind of physical failure.
However touch probes are typically NO internally due to how they work. Any NC/NO flipping has to be done via electronics, but even at that, having the flipping done in the probe itself still gives you protection from any disconnection problem.Avoiding the rubbish customer service from AluminiumWarehouse since July '13.
