I’m making up a 4th rotary axis for my gecko g540 based cnc. I’ve got some/most of the parts. I’ve got the G540 using a slaved Y/A axis so I don’t have a spare axis port. I think what i’ll do is use a spare breakout board and parallel card I have and just set Mach 3 up to look for that for the 4th.
My query is about the Vexta stepper for the worm gear Rino unit which will give me 30:1 reduction. I bought it as a complete unit and the stepper, which appears to be a nema 23 size says 5v, 1.4amp. I’m used to steppers requiring much more power. I’m just wondering what sort of driver and power supply I should use with this stepper?
I’ve got an old M542T driver which says 24-50v and 1.5-4.5amp would that do as the driver for the stepper? If it is useable, what sort of power supply should I be looking at, 24v 2amps or something?
Thanks
