Hi, I have a part of a. Obj model that I've purchased. I can't open the main part of it (it's a skull, the lower jaw runs fine, but the upper part doesn't).
I've tried on a friend's machine with dedicated graphics and not having any luck either, so I can't figure out if it's the file or, most likely the pcs lack of ability!
If anyones happy to help please let me know and I'll dm a link(300mb dl).
Thanks so much, Mark.

I have a fairly meaty pc and use space claim which will open and save obj files
Let me have the link and I’ll try it for you
Cheers. Paul

I will be happy to try ..
Using Rhino I can open obj models, at least an online download of Ironman, 16 MB, worked fine.
Using an industrial PC with Nvidia graphics and 8 GB RAM on the graphics card.
A 1 GB Rhino 3D files works fine..
a full detailed VMC modelled in 3D.

Mark
I can open the file in space claim but it is massive
I’ve tried all the setting that I understand but it will only reduce to 1.47 gb (from 4.7gb)
I saved it as a obj and an stl file both about the same size at 1.47gb
I then tried to open the stl file in mesh maker but got an out of memory error
This was on my main pc with 16gb ram and an 8gb graphics card
Not sure what else to try

Ok, I have opened the file with no problems but the model has a very high and dense mesh count with errors. See image.
My workstation is fairly high spec with a Quadro P5000 and 128gb RAM, so you will need a decent GPU and plenty of RAM.
I have opened it with Blender and Rhino3d no problems, Blender is a free download if you want to try it.

That's one amazing set up you've got! Way way beyond my budget. Thanks for checking it out, is it cheeky to ask if you could reduce the polys to make it accessible to a circa 2010 pc!? I only want to route it, the huge amount of detail isn't ever going to be visible for my application. Thanks again, Mark
