Hello all,
The last year I've secretly been watching countless YouTube videos of CNC projects. The last few months it's gotten really bad and a few times my girlfriend nearly caught me; fortunately I had just enough time to turn on some porn to hide my guilty secret. But now I am proud to say that I mustered up the courage and came out to her as CNC+. We watched a few videos together and she actually got into it even talking about some projects we could do together, she's even suggested getting epoxy resin involved but I'm not sure I'm ready to share just yet.
Anyways a few weeks ago I decided that I needed to stop being a CNC voyeur and "pop my cheery" and so I ordered an Ooznest Workbee. The anticipation of waiting for it to arrive was a mixture of pure exhilaration and panic. I was awash with questions, "What if it was too big or too noisy or what if I simply couldn't handle it?" But the devil on my shoulder made a very compelling case promising me untold rewards and gratification.
Long story short, I now am the proud owner of a Workbee 1500 x 1000 CNC machine and I couldn't be happier. The build was immense fun and helped me to understand much more about how the machine works. It's now all put together in my workshop / wooden cabin (managed to crack it in a day and a half) and I'm now designing and building a foldable and movable cart I can put it on so that I can store it away when I'm not using it (space is a bit of a premium in my workshop). Also working through some design considerations for a modular soundproofing box so that I don't irritate my somewhat excellent neighbour who gave me a spare F1 Grand Prix ticket some weeks back.
Appreciate any and all advice on all things CNC related. Looking forward to learning new ways to make dust with ridiculously dangerous spinny whirly things.
Cheers
Dusty
