I used plywood to mock up my Z axis before committing to cutting the more expensive aluminium plate. As I didn't actually have a source for the required plate at the time, the plywood version did some useful work over several months.
KitAn optimist says the glass is half full, a pessimist says the glass is half empty, an engineer says you're using the wrong sized glass.
