Yup, the free version definitely includes CAM. But simulation - depends what you mean! It will definitely do toolpath simulation - I do it all the time. You can also move parts around in the modelling ("Design") environment within their permitted constraints to examine clearances, etc, and you can ask it to look for clashes between components. But a lot of the more sophisticated mechanical analysis tools are paid version-only.
...and because they keep tweaking the user interface and layout, tutorials often are out of date. You just have to try to translate.
