Since purchasing my Triac, I’ve had a few issues around the spindle drive, etc though I’ve now resolved these.
I’ve been checking all operations, referencing, tool changing etc and have been getting issues occasionally where the USB connection drops out.

Whilst an issue with the Baldor board is possible I’m sure, would it be intermittent like this?

Any ideas on getting a more stable connection?

First thing I'd suggest, is check wherever you have the machine is properly earthed.
Then make sure you're using a good quality USB cable (ideally one with a ferrite bead on it).

After that, the easy option is a USB isolator. Just search eBay for ADUM3160 for numerous options.

Earthing is a good point; I’ve not seen any earth strap anywhere, but I’ll have a look thru the electrical drawings and see where one should/could go (unless you know where a Triac would have been earthed?)

After advise, I found a setting within Win10 that reduces power to USBs after a period, so having disabled the function I’m hoping that’s cracked that issue.

I’ve got a usb isolator fitted, but don’t think I’ve got a shielded cable. Will check that out.

Not quite sure on the e-stop issue… hopefully after a good nights sleep, the machine will want to play tomorrow

I can't see evidence of an external earthing point on the mill or the electrical cabinet; is there a best place for this and can I simply take a cable and run to ground? (Concrete floor or wall?)

USB issue seems to be resolved by the Windows setting... We'll see!

E-stop issue was the 'axis limit switch override'... I pressed it by mistake last week and it must be faulty as I had to link it out to clear the e-stop alarm...
Question is what is its purpose and do I need to keep it? I could replace the switch or do away with it!?
