Probably because you are using the wrong Port.?
Port #1 which you are using is mostly Inputs, Port #2 and #3 are the ones with all the outputs on them and it's these that you will need to control the motors. Read the manual and it shows you all the I/O and which ports they are on.-use common sense, if you lack it, there is no software to help that.
