Might be better off looking for secondhand gears that can be turned down to suit what you need, the cost of cast iron blanks is horrendous given that it's a base metal, probably something to do with supply and demand.
Do you know any villains ? According to the press they are always running about with iron bars in their hands, me I have trouble getting hold of any at reasonable costs ?John S -

I think they've resorted to lead pipe these days John as no one wants that any more...
thanks for the suggestion though, I'll bear it in mind... although a 127 tooth gear at 16DP is 8" so may be a while to find something bigger than that!
