Hi, I think I have tied myself in knots here. I am trying to understand how to set the encoder count for a full revolution of the motor. I have no idea how to find this information out, and the manual may as well be in Dutch. Can anyone help me out. Thanks

Did you manage to get this sorted Terry?

Yes I did get it all up and running. Lots of problems of my own making. But all sorted now. Thank you all for taking interest and helping out.

I installed 2 new drivers and motors on my gantry they are cl57t and 4.2a closed loop motors with built in encoder. When I move my y and x at the same time it stalls the y for a split second. Any ideas
Thanks

Poer supply doesn't have enough current capability?

I have 2 10a 36v power units maybe I should have 3 one to drive each motor. Would there be a spike when they first engage if 2 was running off the one power unit leading it to not get enough power causing the stall?

That's what may be happening. Do you have one for x/y and the other for z?

Yes that's the way it is at the minute. I'm running dual motors on the y there running off one power unit and x and z on the other

It looks as if there's a small rotary switch on the side of each driver that allows you to set the peak motor current. Perhaps you could try a lower setting. In broad terms, the current limits the torque, whereas the voltage (36V?) limits the max speed.
Some switching PSUs will briefly shut down and restart if they see an overcurrent spike, so it's possible this is happening. You might find that fitting a large capacitor on the output of the PSU will smooth out any transient current spikes. If I'm right in thinking it has a hiccup mode overcurrent protection, it may then take a few attempts to establish the output but may be less immune to dropping out if that's what's happening.
