Thread: What a tool

3 Weeks Ago #1
What a tool, not the CNC me, what a tool I am.
I decided to jump into the CNC pool without any knowledge at all. I regularly use various hand held routers to play around with signage etc but wanted to try a machine.
Being new and wanting to get the basics I went inexpensive with what I have now found is the famous 3018 Pro. Once you guys have stopped giggling I hope you can help me from square 1
I'm pretty confident I can work with Easel Candle etc once I get things going but I just can get the thing to communicate with my laptop.
So where I'm at, I received the offline controller with three basic files, iPhone, Star and Unbuntu (you all will probably know this anyway) the thing is, when starting to either burn or engrave the X and Y axes barely move, the Z axis appears to be lifting and falling as it should do. When I use the controller to test the axes at various speeds they all move freely. They also move very freely by hand.
I've downloaded Easel added my machine as a "Lunyee" 3018 Pro Max I then get a test page however nothing works.
As I say, when you guys have stopped laughing I'd be grateful for any advice, bearing in mind I've just starting walking upright.
PS I have and am going through numerous Youtube videos as well.
Thanks
David
