Hi
Can anyone tell me what the colour coding of the original Emco 5PC steppers is?
I am installing new drivers but can't find the needed information.

Thanks, the motors are Warner Electric Brake and Clutch - SM072-0060-KN and have eight wires:-
White & Brown; White & Orange; White & Yellow; White & Red; Brown; Orange; Yellow; Red.
I am installing ArcEuro Trade stepper drivers into my Emco 5PC.
Hopefully

Easy,
Brown, orange, yellow and red are the ends of the 4 coils, the white and colour are the opposite ends.
If you are wiring in parallel join red and brown for 1 connection.
White/red and white brown for term 2
Orange and yellow for term 3
White/orange and white/yellow for term 4John S -

Thanks
That's really helpful. Interesting that you have a CONECT mill. I have replaced the X & Y steppers on mine and find it very good for my limited expectations. I also believe it to be a RISHTON mill, having seen photos on the big machinery web-site near Nottingham? (can't remember the name - age!!)

Near is subjective, my wife would say.

I assumed that connection 1 is +A, 2 is -A, 3 is +B and 4 is -B and wired my Z-axis driver accordingly. I am not able to jog the axis and it is possible to turn the Z-axis stepper against some small resistance when it is powered. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If they still move when powered somethings wrong!
Have you checked the wires for continuity between the pairs.

Peter
I have checked that +A and -A, and +B and -B have continuity and that there is no connection between A and B.
