I think sometimes its too easy to be hyper-critical when you've never done it yourself... in a small organisation it only takes someone to be off sick a few days for a backlog to build up, and with online we expect instant response when in reality it might take a few days to work out what the issue is, contact the original supplier, decide on an action and reply. And you know what, sometimes the customer isn't right... (and I speak from personal experience as a major online retailer)
